7 Reasons God Has Something Special For You

Have you ever found a scripture that you think should be shared by the entire Body of Christ?

One such scripture is found in 1 Thessalonians 1:2-5 in the Message Bible:

Every time we think of you, we thank God for you. Day and night you're in our prayers as we call to mind your work of faith, your labor of love, and your patience of hope in following our Master, Jesus Christ, before God our Father. It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special. When the Message we preached came to you, it wasn't just words. Something happened in you. The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions.”

There are seven powerful thoughts in this scripture that equal one powerful encouragement for everyone who has ever gone through the battle.

1.         “Every time we think of you, we thank God for you.”

I’m going to make that statement again. . .

Every time we think of you, we thank God for you.

Sadly, there are some believers who are watching this broadcast or reading this blog. . .who will say, nobody knows I’m alive. . .nobody is thinking about me . . . so how could they possibly be thanking God for me.

First, and most importantly, God knows you’re alive and Hebrews 13:5 says He will never leave you nor forsake you. . .so you’ll never, ever be alone since He is always thinking about you.

Second, if you want someone else thinking about you and thanking God for you, then you’ve got a part to play in that manifestation.

You must move outside what is familiar to you.  Volunteer at church or for that matter. . .go to a church that is actively helping others.

Do a random act of kindness for your neighbor.  It doesn’t matter that you’ve lived there for five years and they’ve never spoken to you. . .nor does it matter if they respond to your gesture of friendship.  God will use it to touch them even if they wonder why they’ve been blessed.

God keeps the books and He’ll bring someone into your life. . .to bless you.

How can I be so sure. . .the scripture says so in Ephesians 6:8:  Whatever good thing you cause to happen to someone else. . .God will do for you.

Finally, if you send me an email. . .or write me a letter. . .you can know with absolutely certainty that we will be praying for you and thanking God for you.  I can even have a member of my prayer staff call and pray with you personally.

Why would we be praying for you in such a manner?  First, it’s right for us to pray for one another and second, it blesses us to be able to do so.

1 Thessalonians 3:9 in the New Living Translation says:

“How we thank God for you! Because of you we have great joy as we enter God’s presence.”

2.         Day and night you’re in our prayers.

Praying for you is not a once in a while thing.  It’s an on-going scriptural directive.

2 Timothy 1:3 in the Amplified Bible says:

“I thank God Whom I worship with a pure conscience, in the spirit of my fathers, when without ceasing I remember you night and day in my prayers.”

When we pray for one another on a continual basis there is a powerful scriptural dynamic loosed into our lives.

James 5:16 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].”

3.         We will remember what you’ve done and who you are.

Not only are we to pray for one another without ceasing . . . we’re to recall all the good things that were done bringing them to our remembrance and more importantly, to His attention.

1 Thessalonians 1:3 in the Message Bible says:

“. . . we call to mind your work of faith, your labor of love, and your patience of hope in following our Master, Jesus Christ, before God our Father.”

Truthfully, I could do an entire teaching on any of the three items mentioned in this verse. . .but I’m going to be brief.

If you want your work of faith called to mind by those remembering and praying for you. . .then it’s a pretty certain thing you need to be walking and living by faith in such a way that it’s obvious to those around you.

Remember, never doubt the Word of God and His precious promises.  Doubt and faith cannot live in the same house and I’m not talking about a geographical house . . . I’m talking about you.

As a born-again believer. . .everything we say, do or think should be done in love according to the Word.  Period.  Paragraph.

Finally, we’re to have patience in knowing that if God said it . . . it will come to pass.

God is not a man that He should lie. (Numbers 23:19)

Your personal demonstration of His faith, love and patience in your life are three characteristics that will make people remember who you are and what you’ve done.

4.         God loves you and He has something special for you.

Years ago, there was a church lady on the TV program Saturday Night Live. Perhaps the more spiritual among us have never watched that show or at least won’t admit it. The church lady would always say, “You’re special.  Can you say special?”

It’s one thing for a fictional television character to call you special but it’s quite another when the Creator of Heaven and Earth to love you and have something special for you.

It’s always nice. . .when a neighbor, a relative or a close friend does something special for you.

It’s reassuring when you can read in 2 Samuel 9:7 where King David told Mephibosheth "I'd like to do something special for you in memory of your father Jonathan.”

But when God has His hand on you. . .to do something special for you . . . that seems beyond human comprehension. . . I don’t want to miss the manifestation, how about you?

5.         The Bible is more than just words to you. . .it’s a lifestyle.

Neither God nor the Bible is to be treated like a spare tire on a car. . .only used in case of emergency.

This also could be an entire teaching but I think the words found in the New Living Translation of Job 23:12 say it all:

“I have not departed from his commands, but have treasured his words more than daily food.”

Chewing on the Word. . .should be just as important as the food you eat. . .they both sustain your life.

6.         Something has happened in you.

As you receive and act on all that’s found in 1 Thessalonians 1:2-5, then it will be clearly obviously. . . you’re not the same person that you used to be.

Romans 12:2 in the New Living Translation says:

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

When you “let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think” it will be clearly obvious to every person who knows or meets you.  When you hug someone. . .the fruit of the spirit will be oozing out of you.

You will clearly be a testimony of His transforming power.

7.         “The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions.”

Years ago, I read a powerful book entitled “A Man of Steel and Velvet.”  I strongly recommend you find and buy this book on amazon.com

When you have steel in your convictions you will not be swayed by every harebrain idea that comes along.

Ephesians 4:14 in the Amplified Bible says:

“So then, we may no longer be children, tossed [like ships] to and fro between chance gusts of teaching and wavering with every changing wind of doctrine, [the prey of] the cunning and cleverness of unscrupulous men, [gamblers engaged] in every shifting form of trickery in inventing errors to mislead.”

There is a Southern gospel song by the McKamey’s entitled “My Foot’s On The Rock” that speaks volumes to the meaning of this verse.

Here are the words to the chorus:

I've got my foot on the Rock and my mind's made up.
Though I walk through the lonely valley, though I drink from the bitter cup.
When the devil comes a-knockin' showin' me an easier way,
I stand right square on my feet, I throw my head in the air,
I look him straight in the eye, I say, my foot's on the Rock and my mind's made up!”

Child of God, you’re Heavenly Father wants you to meditate on this teaching and the Rich Thoughts found in 1 Thessalonians 1:2-5. . .and never doubt just how special you are to Him and to us too.
